5 Cute Bags

I'm always thinking about what can I do to make the people I love Happy...
So this month I decided to do something for 5 wonderful ladies that I know...
They are 5 sisters, who are very strong and great women...
That is my mother-in-law and her for sisters.
They all love Elvis and have always wanted to go on a trip to Memphis together. Well, they decided to go this year and also decided that to stay in touch they would all get Ipads so they can play games together and talk to each other.
I thought would be fun to do something for them ...
then I made this bags for them to keep their Ipads and they could take it on their trips...

I had fun choosing the fabrics and making the flowers in their favorite colors and I think they really enjoyed...

Now I just have to wait for a picture of them in Memphis (maybe near Elvis?? :)) with their bags ...
What a fun project :)

Another talented Sister

Yes, I have 2 very talented sisters...

I have shown you a scarf my middle sister, Sarah crocheted for me last week.

Now I want to show a little of what my sister Helida made for me also.
They both love to crochet and they are both great mothers and to honor them and their many talents I have shown a little bit of what they do... and the great things they have made for me.
This are beautiful handmade flowers
added to my blouse.

This are flowers again in a different color

And these are beautifully embroidered towels with crochet edge that both my kids get every time we go there ... so they don't own a towel that it's not beautifully trimmed :) so happy!

I just love being surrounded by such great talent...
I'm so lucky and so grateful! :)

Happy Mother's Month to my Dear Mother

As the month of May ends I want to take a moment to celebrate a wonderful woman who means the world to me: MY MOM!!

My Mom is a strong, talented woman who in spite of much suffering throughout her whole life has made our lives full of color, beauty and inspiration.
She is beautiful, talented and most of all caring and loving.
Everything I have and everything I'm I owe it to her.

Without trying to make this too emotional I do have to say that she has dedicated her life to us and has done everything humanly possible to make us happy...
that is why this mother's day month I want to tell her how happy I'm that she is my mother and that God couldn't have made me more lucky than to have her in my life...I'm so grateful!

Amongst many, many other talents she crochet, knits, paint and does a needle work called "vagonite" in portuguese (I don't know the name in English)...

This are kitchen towels that she makes and yes,the beautiful table runner also...
Aren't they just gorgeous???

She also loves to paint and we are sooo lucky to have so many of her creations...my kitchen is always pretty. Although I have to say my sister gets first pick most of the time since she is right there (my mom lives with her) :)

Thank you so much my dear Mother for who I have become !!!
Muito obrigada minha querida Mae por tudo q voce me fez ser!!!

Eu te amo Muito!!!

My Crochet Scarf

I just came back from a trip to Brazil in March and I brought a few crochet things that my sister made for me.
One of them was this beautiful crochet scarf.
I love it, but because the color is so muted I really felt like it needed a little pizazz... when I was at the beach on Spring break I found a really pretty yarn which I used to trim a knitted cowl (will show the picture soon)...
So, yesterday I had the idea of trimming the edges of this marvelous scarf and ...
Tah-dah...

Sooo Happy!
Thank You so much to my sister S. for crocheting this beautiful scarf for me :)

HAPPY Thrusday

Last night i wrote this whole post and when I tried to post, it all got frozen. I spent about 1/2 hour trying to fix and finally decided to go upstairs... don't know what happened yesterday, but it is all working today. I guess sometimes all we need is a good night of sleep, ah?

So, I decided to...
 and it worked...

Today is another day and I'm now off from work for 5 days...yeah!!! I'm so happy. I need a rest and  I'm going to try to sew a little bit (I have been making some bags and selling them once in a while to have a little extra $)...crochet a little and if the weather changes (which there is promise of change) we are going to try to go to the beach, enjoy the sun and walk in the sand...what a joyful thing. I really hope the sun shines for us.

I have sewn baby blankets and bags for many years, but this last ones are just one of my favorite... simple and with the little crochet edge I put on everything. I am addicted to using this crochet edge... Here is one of the bags I'm sewing: I have made sooooo many of them, but have forgotten to take pictures ... this one is mine. But I'll post pictures of the ones I'm sewing today later.

I'm very excited to also continue some of my projects. I'll show you I have made a bit of progress on my Japanese flower scarf.  It is starting to look a bit like a scarf now ...see...

I have always been a several project kinda girl... soo... I hope I don't overwhelm you when I show the hundreds of projects I have been working on ...I just work better doing a bit of everything and not getting bored by just one project. Although I should say once in a while I obsess over a project ... like my bohemian bag... I just wanted so bad I had to finish...

I was sooo happy with the amazing results.

Well I'll try to post a little bit of what I'm doing this weekend later and I'm really going to enjoy it.

But, before I go here are a few pictures of my knitting/crochet group last week.
The weather was wonderful and we got to knit and crochet outside in my backyard...we always have such a great time together.

We have called our group Knitnite for many, many years but a friend had suggested to change the name and I think I'm going to put it to vote next time we meet...
1st suggestion was :
Chicks with Sticks...:)
give us your suggestion ...

Well, I think I'm going to sew (while a couple loads of laundry are running) and will later post a pattern that my sister has asked me to post here for her (the ripple blanket).
See you all later, Tchau:)

A Few Last Year Knitting Projects and My New Projects this weekend

 Hi there

Hi there friends...Had a very busy and fun week. Went to a knitting group/class, Cirque Du Soleil Ovo (FANTASTIC!!!) with my husband and my kids and had our monthly knitnite group in my house.
I'm now just relaxing a bit in my couch and crocheting a bit a couple new patterns I just started this weekend. But first I have been wanting to post a few pictures of some of the things I have been knitting  since last year. I probably have done 10 times the number of projects I'm posting, but I didn't always remember to take pictures and after they are gone to their homes (I give most everything I make :)) then I cannot really take pictures anymore.
Hope you enjoy seeing some of my projects as much as I enjoyed making them!

Now I will show you what I have been up to this weekend :

First I'll show you my bag... Yay!!! I did finish my
Bohemian Bag...
I'm so happy with the final result. Love the leather handle (although I had a really hard time to figure it out how to put the snaps, but I did it!)
I'm so excited to wear it tomorrow :) Pure Hapiness. (thanks again Lucy from Attic24 for the great inspiration)

Because my bag was ready I just started having withdraw feelings...
I had to start a new project so I could use all of those great colors I had in my basket... voila...
I started a cute scarf with the linen stitch which is a very simple pattern... really just single crochet and a chain and repeat to the end (you need to start with even number of stitches).
I'm soooooo happy with the combination of colors!
Just pure bliss!
It's been raining the whole day here and it's so nice for my eyes  to have a bit of color to cheer me up.

And then last but not least...
My Mom's blanket.

I have tried several different patterns for this great yarn (Cascade Eco+) I got over a year ago.
I made a blanket for my Dad right before he passed away (I was able to give it to him, but he passed away a month after) and for some reason I just cannot get this blanket going ....:(
I do think this one is a go now... I have told my mom I'm working on it for a whole year.
I do love this pattern now and I'm going to make one whole bigger square the size of the square made out of 4 squares.
I think it wil turn out great and I'll be praying for my mom's health as I make it for her...
Cannot wait to see the final result, but since I just started (again) I know I have a long way to go... but it is a happy decision :)

I had a great relaxing weekend and hope you had one too!
Thanks for visiting me here and have a great week :)
